Teakwood, like any other wood, is a natural material and will react to the effects of the natural changes of the weather and the exposure to direct sunlight. Please find below a brief description of the natural coluor and surface change of any teakwood product.

If untreated teakwood will turn 'grey' as shown on the pictures below. Also a natural product will 'work' and the grains of the wood will open slighlty due to the effects of the  weather. Most people find the natural grey colour the 'charm' of the product. Untreated wood will turn grey after a short period of time and the surface will become slightly rough. A yearly treat with (very fine) sandpaper can be done to keep the surface smooth.

Teakwood can be treated to keep the colour more like the light, more brown, colour. It than needs to be oiled with Teakoil and should be treated every 3-4 months for maximum preservation of the wood or could even be laquered in any colour you may wish.
